With a list of government funds and grants, Commonwealth Management Companies of Madison and Fond Du Lac, Wisc., is converting the former manufacturing facility, Little Crow Foods into an apartment complex. The building has been sitting vacant on South Detroit Street in Warsaw for three years and is expected to be open in the spring of 2018. The new apartment complex will have 42 loft-style units designed for young professionals and families intended to support the workforce of Warsaw’s downtown area. Little Crow Foods was a family owned establishment on their fourth generation of management before selling their assets, trademarks, and recipes in 2012 to Minneapolis-based Mom Brands and Gilster-Mary Lee Corporation from Chester, Ill.
Their cornerstone brand was Coco Wheats, a microwavable, warm chocolate cereal which Mom Brands will be adding to their arsenal of many other hot cereal brands. The renovation project in its entirety is expected to cost $8.4 million. Lengacher Bros., is handling interior and exterior demo and framing.
